Much to my chagrin, my blog has never really looked correct on my iPhone. Most websites that don’t have a mobile version never really do look correct on mobile devices, so…

Really though, I’ve never considered mobile versions for the websites I work on and run. Until smartphones took off, the consideration was never really there for me… Well, they’ve taken off.

Thus, my quest to make my blog look correct on at least the iPhone has been completed. I’ve installed a nice new plugin to my blog that’ll make it look slick on the iPhone, and supposedly it’ll look correct on other mobile devices as well.

I’ve taken a test drive of the plugin and success. It looks good. I suggest for you to go take a look in your iPhone as well.

Oh, and let’s not forget an update on my busted liver, err knee. It’s been slowly getting better. I’ve got more range and motion today than any time since the injury, and I’m actually a bit more confident that there’s no permanent damage, or damage that will eventually need to be surgically repaired. I have an Indoor Soccer game this Thursday, so we’ll see how it feels during that game, afterwards, and that night as well. I think it’ll be alright, though.

Day Off!

March 20th, 2009 1 comment

Totally awesome! Laura and Randy (my boss) colluded in secret to give me a day off today. She’s having us take a weekend trip somewhere, but I don’t know where. Totally awesome! We’re actually on the way right now. They totally rock!

It’s The Music, Dummy!

February 5th, 2009 No comments

“I kissed a girl, and I liked it!”

Anybody hear this song this last summer? I did. I actually heard it on KNPR, aka Nevada Public Radio. They were talking about how it had taken the charts by storm and a lot of people were happy that a subject such as, oh I dunno, lesbian behaviors made it into such a popular and catchy song.

… Regrettably (well, not really), I ended up buying that album. It was pretty good, actually… And I’m listening to it right now. Haha.

In any case, today has been a good, good day for music. I always have my iPod and headphones here at work with me, but I’m not always listening to music. I get interrupted so often that I often leave them off. Or I don’t know what I want to listen to. Or I’m afraid of getting tired of all of my music. But I have a few musical configurations that I use:

  1. All songs on my iPod on random
  2. Pandora radio via my iPhone
  3. Listen to specific albums on my iPod

Today, #3 is my choice. I’ve already listened to 2 Breaking Benjamin albums and have, as i just said, moved on to Katy Perry’s One of the Boys. Am I weird for liking her music? Probably. Haha.

I kissed Laura, and I liked it!

So any way, music tends to put me in a really good mood, especially if I can listen to it for extended periods of time and rock out with my clock out. It happened to me last night while I was driving from home to Applebee’s for some much-needed dinner. And it’s happening today.

I may load up Van Halen’s F.U.C.K. album after One of the Boys, actually.

I love music. It’s awesome. I’m also very happy I’m among those that actually pay for their music. It’s worth it to me, especially to not be arrested and fined thousands of dollars for something I really didn’t need, haha.

Although I think some of the tactics of the RIAA are getting way, way out there, but that’s a discussion for another day. I’m in too good of a mood to spoil my awesome musicness with badness.

“If I knew back then what I know right now, you know I’d be the King of the Ladies!”

iPhone Case Review

January 19th, 2009 No comments

I recently got the Incase Slider Case for my iPhone. I’ve been wanting a good snug, sturdy plastic case for my iPhone to use for just about all the time, save for when I’m going to be travelling a lot by foot and whatnot, where I’ll want my holster case.

All-in-all, I really like this case. It’s everything I thought I would be getting. Except for one caveat — my screen protector is coming up at one corner because it wasn’t perfectly aligned. That’s one problem with having a case so snug and fitting, that if your screen protector isn’t on there perfectly aligned… Then you can have issues. If it doesn’t get any worse, I may not mess with it. Otherwise, I may try to re-seat the protector I have on there right now. If I can’t reset the existing one, I’ll try with one of the 3 spares I have. Basically, if you can get my screen protector on with the slider case on, you’re golden, because there’s not much room for error.

Randomness

I don’t really have much to write about at the moment, but oh well. I wanted to post to keep in touch with all of you wonderful people.

So money sucks… It seems like every time that Laura and I make a sizable purchase, something goes relatively wrong soon after. After getting our iPhones and HDTV, we’ve seen our bank account plummet with some unexpected expenses… Oy. But we’ll be alright. I’ve already started identifying areas where I will be spending less, such as canceling my Sports Illustrated subscription (since I haven’t been reading it much), and I’ll probably be quitting soccer for awhile. I haven’t had a break since I started playing again 5 years ago and I think I need one.

Anyway, Christmas is coming soon and the whole commercialization of it has started to bother me a bit. Everybody just expects gifts unless you explicitly tell them “Hey, we’re giftless this year!” Then they may get upset, especially if said person just purchased an HDTV… Yeah, I know. I just got an HDTV, so I ought to be able to afford gifts for everybody, right? Well, I’d done freelance work this fall and saved it up, not to mention I’ve been wanting one for 2 years and a great deal finally came along. That, and unexpected expenses.

I regrettably ended up telling all of my friends that Laura and I are focusing gifts this year on immediate family. We needed to do it. That, and we have a very large number of friends, so it would have been mighty expensive on us to get gifts for everybody, even if we were buying affordable gifts.

That, and we don’t really have a big list of things we want people to get for us. We usually just get things that we want or need when we want or need them (although sometimes we should wait, i.e. HDTV and iPhones…). Really, I’d just be happy to get a text message or a phone call from friends and family that aren’t in town, wishing me Merry Christmas or Happy Hanukkah or whatever they believe.

So Samantha is doing well now. She’s settled in to the whole house finally. She hangs out wherever we’re at in the house now, which is nice. Before she would only hang out upstairs, but the breakthrough really came when we moved her food and water downstairs. Previously, they were in the master bathroom on the opposite side of her litter box. We’d read that you should separate good & water from the litter box as best you can, so we moved them downstairs to along a wall in the kitchen. Since she was forced to go downstairs to eat, that worked.

She’s gotten into a habit of waking me up at 4:30-5:30 area by purring in my ear and walking all over me. Oy…

Hm. Can’t think of much else to yak about. See you later.

Eye Pown

November 24th, 2008 No comments

As you may have read on Laura’s blog… We gots ourselves some iPhones this last weekend. We’d been a bit stumped for what to do for Christmas and we’ve both really been wanting iPhones, so we decided we’d pony up the dough (and monthly dough, too) and get them. We were up on our contract and we’d saved a decent amount of money through side jobs from myself, etc.

They’re totally absolutely awesome! Man, I’m already addicted to my iPhone. I’ve downloaded some apps here and there and customized my home screens (and I’ve got a little bit more to go). I’ve been trying to get my contacts list all setup and in-order as well.

It’s just such a neat device, and I think the App Store that you can use with the phone really makes it a viable portable computing platform. It’s also a good gaming machine, as I’ve downloaded Fieldrunners and love it. One of the better tower defense games I’ve played, and I’ve played quite a few. The App Store just makes the iPhone so usable and I think this is the beginning of true mobile computing somewhat in the same manner that older sci-fi shows and movies thought it would be like.

Good times! [goes back to his iPhone now]
