Dr. Mrs. The Monarch

August 27th, 2009 1 comment

Ok, so some of you may have read my post dealing with The Venture Brothers. Granted, I didn’t talk a whole lot about the show in that post.

So anyway, I wrapped up the third season during this last weekend, just in time before my MBA classes started and I wouldn’t have time to watch much TV or shows. It’s a hilarious show. It’s about Dr. Thaddeus Venture and his two sons (Hank and Dean), who are the Venture brothers. His arch-enemy is The Monarch, a crazy guy in a butterfly-like suit, who is my favorite character outside of his wife. There are a bunch of other characters, such as Dr. Orpheus (Laura’s favorite) and Brock Samson.

Most of the characters in the show are complete losers. Brock Samson isn’t, and he’s a big reason why Dr. Venture hasn’t been killed yet. Another character in the show that isn’t a loser is Dr. Mrs. The Monarch, previously Dr. Girlfriend, previously Queen Etherea, previously Lady Au Pair… Yeah, long list of former names. Actually, it’s easier to call her Dr. Girlfriend, as it’s the shortest name and she spent a lot of time in that name when compared to the others.

Some history behind Dr. Girlfriend, basically, she’s always been a #2 arch enemy. She eventually fell in love with The Monarch and married him, thus the name change. For a cartoon character, she’s pretty hot, especially once she creates her own butterfly-themed costume. Despite the fact that she has basically a man’s voice… But she’s the brains behind The Monarch’s arching of Dr. Venture, while he’s the raw hatred and passion. But he’s still mostly a loser.

So I mention all of this because Andy Taylor said since I like The Monarch, I should go as him for Halloween this year. Which would make Laura Dr. Mrs. The Monarch… My first thought was “Holy crap, that character is already pretty hot! And that would be Laura? Jizz in my Pants?!”

Unfortunately, I can’t pull off The Monarch as well as I’d like. He’s pretty well in shape, has a six-pack, etc. Not me. I’m still losing weight, let alone toning and building muscle. I don’t have time for that right now.

But man, it’d be so worth it just to see Laura in a Dr. Mrs. The Monarch outfit… I totally have to convince Laura to be those 2 characters for Halloween. Thank you Andy for this excellent suggestion!

Ban Viagra!

May 7th, 2009 6 comments

Alright, so this congressman wants to limit the times of day that erectile dysfunction ads can be broadcast, so that they cannot be on the air from 6am to 10pm. Read about it here.

This is stupid. Sure, the commercials are mildly embarrassing, and little kids probably shouldn’t see them. But this is overprotecting our kids. Pharmaceutical companies have a right to advertise their products just like anybody else. Honestly, if we start banning ED commercials, then you know what I want to see? I want to see tampon and pad commercials banned.

That’s right. I said it. Men everywhere probably feel it too. Those damn ads for Tampax tampons or friggin’ pads for women’s periods. We don’t want to see those stupid ads either, and I’m sure little kids don’t need to be seeing those too. So why stop at banning ED ads during certain times of day? A ban like that should be extended to feminine products.

Oh, this one time, I saw a friggin’ commercial for a douche. Fucking serious! A damn douche! You think men everywhere want to see that? Fuck no! Just like women don’t want to see cheesy ED commercials, men definitely don’t want to watch these lame commercials where some woman has this stupid grin on her face, followed by an animation of some tampon that soaks up bodily fluids using high-tech channels, or some shit.

Just stupid. Ban one, ban ‘em all, I say. Oh, and I apologize for the profanity in this post. I don’t normally curse here on my blog, but it felt appropriate and I think conveyed the tone I wanted to. See, there’s a method to my madness. :D

[Edit]

You did get that I’m semi-joking around here, right? Right? :) But seriously. This is one ban that shouldn’t be enforced…

Vote for “Weird” Al Yankovic! [Updates: 1]

March 26th, 2009 No comments

Apparently Paul and Storm think that Wil Wheaton is the best choice for Secretary of Geek Affairs. But they never considered “Weird” Al Yankovic for the position! Help me in supporting Weird Al by signing this online petition asking for a new election with his consideration!

Your support is appreciated! Get the word out and let’s get a new election for Weird Al!

[Update 1]

So yeah, awhile back someone informed me that there was a vote. Oh well… Sorry Al!

Trouble

March 10th, 2009 No comments

I’m having trouble figuring out what to talk about today for my blog post. There’s not a whole lot on my mind right now that I feel like posting about.

I already talked about Watchmen… And it’s sticking with me. Sometimes media will stick with me after I’ve “consumed” it, be it movies, books, music or video games. When I say sticking with me, I mean it kind-of takes up a temporary residence in my memory. Spoiler Alert Like the scene in Gears of War 2 where Dom finds his wife and basically has to kill her because she’s been broken by torture, that stuck with me for about a day End Spoiler Alert. So Watchmen has stuck with me for a bunch of reasons, be it the story, the romance between two characters… Even the graphic novel stuck with me.

I can’t talk yet about the photo shoot that Laura and I did last night for Project: FH – March 2009. Although you can preview it a little with this post on her blog. The final result of that shoot will be awesome.

I did see No Country For Old Men the other day on my XBox 360 via Netflix. It was a good movie, but the ending wasn’t quite what I was looking for. But oh well, it’s a Cohen brothers’ movie.

Let’s see, what to talk about… I think I’m going to get a wireless bridge for the entertainment center downstairs, that way I can network all of the devices there to our wireless network. Our wireless router sits upstairs and I’m not running cable all the way down to network, so a bridge will suffice. Want to get coach lights and bar lights for the house sometime soon… Blu-Ray player and home theater PC eventually…

I wouldn’t mind getting Street Fighter IV either, as well as The Lost and the Damned expansion for GTA IV. I’ve chewed through a good deal of my Christmas video game haul thusly:

  1. Beat Fallout 3
  2. Guitar Hero: World Tour play continues on
  3. I’m done with Need for Speed Undercover
  4. Not done with Dead Space, but it’s intermittent when I play for various reasons (creepiness indeed!)
  5. Defeated Gears of War 2 campaign and have moved on to online play (Horde mode FTW)

I’ve got some other XBox Live Arcade games I’m in the middle of a bit too:

  1. Braid, I’m a few worlds in on this one
  2. Portal, I want to start doing some of the challenges

Well, there’s a recap for you. :)

Oh, and I tried to make an artistic look at my Zoolander photo from Project: FH – February 2009. I couldn’t make one work very well, there’s too much detail that needs to be kept from the original photo to make it work. Sorry Katie & Sarah!
