The List, Iteration 2

February 1st, 2010

I’m such a nerd that I put the word iteration in my post title, even when I’m updating my infamous (is it really infamous??) list.

It’s that time of the year folks, when I update my list of famous women that I can sleep with and encounter no repercussions with Laura. The whole point of this list is to be some funny, fantasy thing that will almost assuredly never happen because I’ll never meet these women.

One of these days I’ll make my “Man List”. One of these days… I already know Robert Downey Jr. resides on it, but that’s all I know. Anyway, that’s a topic for another time. At the end of this post I’ll give you the reasons that anybody who might have been dropped was.

Honorable Mention: Michelle Trachtenberg

Michelle Trachtenberg

Michelle Trachtenberg

She gets an honorable mention mostly for a sidenote I’m going to make at the end. But she’s pretty and back when I first watched EuroTrip, she would have qualified for actually being on my list.

Number 5: Michelle Rodriguez

Michelle Rodriguez

She wasn’t even in consideration for Iteration2 until probably a few weeks ago. I’ve always thought she was attractive, but for some reason I decided she belonged on the list after I saw her in Avatar. I mean, she is pretty hot. Although as Laura points out, she’s “too dominant for me.” As if that’s something that matters when we’re talking about a fantasy list. But she’s pretty hot.

Number 4: Jessica Alba

Jessica Alba

Jessica Alba

Really, she belonged on the list in the first place. The only reason I never added her was because just about everybody else probably would have placed her on their list, and I’m not one to follow a crowd. But oh well, this is personal preference here, so screw everyone else and if I’m just one in the flock here! Jessica Alba is pretty damn smokin’ hot. I mean, what else is there to say? Wondering why she’s not ranked higher, perhaps?

Number 3: Rachel McAdams

Rachel McAdams

Rachel McAdams

Rachel never appeared on my list before simply because I kinda forgot about her. See, I don’t fantasize about myself being with hot famous women all of the time, so I can forget when I see one and think to consider them for my list. Hell, even when I think about considering them for my list, I’ll have forgotten later that I wanted to make that consideration! And Rachel McAdams was the unfortunate recipient of such forgetfulness. She should have been on here from the get-go. Can’t break into the top two, though.

Number 2: Jenna Fischer

Jenna Fischer

Jenna Fischer

She very nearly well broke into the top spot. I mean, she was really close. Hell, even a few weeks after I first posted my list, she was pretty much going to get it. But I’ll explain why she didn’t here soon. She’s still hot and still a nerd magnet, so thus she retains her spot as #2.

Number 1: Amanda Bynes

Amanda Bynes

Amanda Bynes

I almost knocked Amanda Bynes down to #2. I mean, she dyed her hair pretty damn blonde right after I made my list and I actually didn’t really like that look on her. She looks good with darker hair. But alas, two things saved Ms. Bynes. One, she switched her hair to highlights, which looks much better on her than the blonde, and I daresay might even look better than when her hair was basically just one cohesive color. And the second? She posed in Maxim, and got to prove that she’s indeed as hot as I thought she was. In fact, that’s just what the photo I have of her above is from, her Maxim shoot. Hot indeed.

Notes

Ok, so I mentioned Michelle Trachtenberg earlier as an honorable mention, in part because I wanted to make a note here at the end. I’m not too keen on how she looks much anymore, I think she’s too “plastic” looking nowadays. But Laura and I were talking about my list earlier this week and she was suggesting people to consider for my list. She mentioned “that girl from EuroTrip.” I mentioned that I thought she was pretty hot back when that movie was made. And then I realized…

Both Michelle Trachtenberg and Amanda Bynes were stars on Nickelodeon, back when I watched that kids channel when I was a kid. It appears that I haven’t outgrown the actresses that were on TV as kids when I was a kid. I wonder if that’s part of the appeal, at all..  I’m not convinced, though. I mean, Michelle Trachtenberg is only an honorable mention, mostly because I thought this was an interesting side-note, and I nearly knocked Amanda Bynes down for Iteration 2. None of the other ladies on my list were kid stars that I watched as a kid.

In fact, had Amanda Bynes not grown up to be so damn hot, she wouldn’t be on the list in the first place.

Dropped

You may notice there is 60% turnover on my list! Dropped from the ranks are Scarlett Johansson, Keira Knightley and Hayden Panettiere. These three ladies are still quite attractive, but I was putting my initial version of my list together without the full breadth of thought that it required. Really, lists require a couple iterations to get them right from the get-go, and from thereon out they’ll always be living documents because tastes change, people change and whatnot. So those three are dropped because they are unworthy when considered against my three newest additions. No offense.

Halloween 2009!

November 3rd, 2009

Alright folks, I’m finally here with Halloween 2009 pics! As you all know by now, my quest to have Laura and I dress as Dr. Mrs. The Monarch and The Monarch, respectively, from Venture Bros. came to be. She finally acquiesced and we coordinated with two people to get our costumes built. Andy Taylor built my eyebrows and our crowns, while Ardath Painter handled virtually everything else, including my wings. She did a tremendous job!

So without further ado, here’s the pics! I’ll make sure these make their way onto Facebook as well.

Me!

Me! As The Monarch.

Another me!

Another me!

They wanted to get a full shot at my work.

They wanted to get a full shot at my work.

Looking villanous!

And now, the moment you’ve all been waiting for… Laura’s costume! Dr. Mrs. The Monarch!

The Monarch and Dr. Mrs. The Monarch! Hotness on the left!

Another shot of the two of us. Although I'm trying to be villanous again.

Alright, so here’s a couple of just Laura. Sorry there aren’t more, because she was totally hotter!

Formerly Dr. Girlfried...

Yeah, she's hot.

Yeah, she's hot.

So I seriously can’t stress enough how awesome of a job Ardath did on these things! Tremendous, I think they came out very, very well. We were very happy with them. Andy has mentioned to us that we should wear them to Comic Con this next year, but I doubt it’ll happen. Too many issues involved with that, but it would be pretty hot nonetheless.

Also, there are a few more pics that I don’t have in yet, so here in the future I may either add them to this post or just make a new one… I’ll probably make a new one.

[Update 1]

Ok, so those extra pics I was telling you about, here they are!

Laura and Jane.

Laura and Jane.

Us again! I look old.

Us again! I look old.

I have no idea how this happened, but it's kinda hotter <strong>with</strong> the gun. And even more villainous!

Disorganized Fun – Ronald Jenkees

August 28th, 2009

I posted awhile back about Ronald Jenkees… Yeah, it was a short post basically telling you to go out and check his stuff out.

Well, his second CD, Disorganized Fun, came out at the end of July. I can’t believe I missed it for basically three weeks, but I got it earlier this week. It is awesome. The stuff awesome is made of. Seriously. I thought his first CD was pretty good, but his second effort is truly great.

Disorganized Fun

Disorganized Fun

The first five tracks comprise probably one of the most tremendous opening five I’ve heard on any CD. The CD as a whole is one of the best and most complete I’ve ever listened to. I’m serious. His stuff is really that good.

My favorite track from Disorganized Fun is Throwing Fire, while Guitar Sound is really awesome as well… It doesn’t hurt that it’s a longer track too, which I always love to have when it comes to excellent sounds and riffs. The title track, Disorganized Fun, opens the CD and it’s very strong too. Stay Crunchy is a pretty strong track too.

The only downside on this CD for me is the rap songs. I know he has a lot of fun with them and they can be fun, but I think his non-lyrical music is far superior. But that’s just my 2 cents. Hell, there was even a track on For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge that I didn’t like, and that’s the best album of all time as far as I’m concerned…

Dr. Mrs. The Monarch

August 27th, 2009

Ok, so some of you may have read my post dealing with The Venture Brothers. Granted, I didn’t talk a whole lot about the show in that post.

So anyway, I wrapped up the third season during this last weekend, just in time before my MBA classes started and I wouldn’t have time to watch much TV or shows. It’s a hilarious show. It’s about Dr. Thaddeus Venture and his two sons (Hank and Dean), who are the Venture brothers. His arch-enemy is The Monarch, a crazy guy in a butterfly-like suit, who is my favorite character outside of his wife. There are a bunch of other characters, such as Dr. Orpheus (Laura’s favorite) and Brock Samson.

Dr. Thaddeus Venture

Dr. Thaddeus Venture

Dr. Thaddeus Venture

Hank Venture

Dean Venture

Dean Venture

The Monarch

The Monarch

Dr. Orpheus

Dr. Orpheus

Brock Samson

Brock Samson

Most of the characters in the show are complete losers. Brock Samson isn’t, and he’s a big reason why Dr. Venture hasn’t been killed yet. Another character in the show that isn’t a loser is Dr. Mrs. The Monarch, previously Dr. Girlfriend, previously Queen Etherea, previously Lady Au Pair… Yeah, long list of former names. Actually, it’s easier to call her Dr. Girlfriend, as it’s the shortest name and she spent a lot of time in that name when compared to the others.

Dr. Girlfriend

Dr. Girlfriend

Some history behind Dr. Girlfriend, basically, she’s always been a #2 arch enemy. She eventually fell in love with The Monarch and married him, thus the name change. For a cartoon character, she’s pretty hot, especially once she creates her own butterfly-themed costume. Despite the fact that she has basically a man’s voice… But she’s the brains behind The Monarch’s arching of Dr. Venture, while he’s the raw hatred and passion. But he’s still mostly a loser.

So I mention all of this because Andy Taylor said since I like The Monarch, I should go as him for Halloween this year. Which would make Laura Dr. Mrs. The Monarch… My first thought was “Holy crap, that character is already pretty hot! And that would be Laura? Jizz in my Pants?!”

Dr. Mrs. The Monarch

Dr. Mrs. The Monarch

Unfortunately, I can’t pull off The Monarch as well as I’d like. He’s pretty well in shape, has a six-pack, etc. Not me. I’m still losing weight, let alone toning and building muscle. I don’t have time for that right now.

But man, it’d be so worth it just to see Laura in a Dr. Mrs. The Monarch outfit… I totally have to convince Laura to be those 2 characters for Halloween. Thank you Andy for this excellent suggestion!

It happened! Check it out!

Lifelong Venture (Bros)

July 31st, 2009

So a couple days ago, Venture Bros: Season 1: Disc 1 came in from Netflix. I absolutely love Netflix. It’s nice to have one single flat fee for a video rental service. Especially since we can stream Netflix over my Xbox 360. That’s really nice for the titles they have that support that.

The show is really funny. I first saw a few episodes of it when I was at a video game party with Andy Taylor. I just now finally got around to watching it from the beginning using Netflix.

Sorry for the post-a-month thing I have going on right now. It’s tough to keep up because I’m so busy lately. And it won’t get any better once I start my MBA classes at UNLV next month. I still have a few things to wrap up for that, such as my financial aid, parking, a backpack and books. And who knows if I’ll be able to take my laptop with me, as it’s a behemoth and overheats a little too easily without the fan stand I have for it.

I’ve been trying to put a little time here and there into OMGN. I’m building a new database structure, new code structure and new design for the site. Basically, I’m building a brand-new OMGN, which is currently on it’s third iteration, more or less. The underlying code hasn’t really changed but it’s on its third major design. This new structure I’m building will be just totally great.

Hm… Lot of other things to talk about, not much time at the moment. I’ll write more later.

Germanic Dog Training

July 10th, 2009

I swear I’m trying to post more often again…

Anyway, when Laura and I completed two different courses of training with Pepper, we got a bumper sticker for it. It was basically an ad for Petsmart training with one of those “I’m proud of my dog” things.

Well, one of her coworkers, Andy Taylor,  has been regularly moving that bumper sticker to different places on her truck. It got even more convoluted when it would appear in very random places. Well, a couple weeks ago Laura couldn’t find it. She put it on Andy’s car and never saw it again.

Well, today I checked Andy’s blog… And I found our bumper sticker… Hilarious! First photo.

The Marathon

April 16th, 2009

I do apologize if you’re sick about reading about how busy I am. But such is my life as of late, and as we all know, I like to talk about stuff that actually relates to me in my blog.

So today is my marathon day. If I survive the day without going crazy and not breaking any bones, then I’ve accomplished an extraordinary feat. Here is my schedule:

  • 7am-4pm: Work
  • 11:30am: Lunchtime mortgage meeting
  • 5:30pm to, at the latest, 8:15pm – Corporate Challenge Flag Football
  • 9:00pm: Work (evening release)
  • 10:00pm: Indoor Soccer

I’ll probably get home at 11:30, where I’ll probably go immediately to bed and wake up the next morning to get to work at 7am again. Oh. My. God.

So let me explain some of these items. Obviously, I have work. But during my lunch break I’ll be heading to rework our mortgage, probably to a decently lower interest rate, which would rock. If that happens, we’ll likely keep our payments where they’re at now, and if we run into issues in the future, cut how much we’re paying to it. It’ll be a nice buffer should we ever need to use it. Otherwise, we’ll pay off the house much faster.

So we also have Corporate Challenge Flag Football this evening. I’ll get into the reason why, but our earliest game starts at 6:30 and our latest goes until whenever. If we keep winning, we keep playing. But I know for a fact that I can’t play past 8:15 and some other people can’t because we all have evening releases at work. Which, of course, is next on my list.

Our evening release should actually be pretty easy. Normally, when we have Thursday evening releases, if I have an Indoor Soccer game later than 7:30, I won’t play. But this evening’s release shouldn’t take longer than a half-hour. So I’m going to head up to my Dad’s place and do the release from there, which is 5 minutes from the Indoor Soccer facility. As long as the release doesn’t take too much longer than we’re anticipating, I will make my Indoor Soccer game at 10.

Wow. Indoor Soccer at 10. Looking forward to that one too. But that means I’ll have at least played in two games (one football, one soccer) and potentially up to four, depending on how the flag football games shake out. I’ll be dead, dead tired. And let’s not forget all of the other busy-ness I’ll be tackling throughout the day.

Oh, I figured I should give you a quick wrap-up to my odd breathing issue. Yesterday it started getting better as the day went on, and when I woke up this morning, it was gone! I’ve had a suggestion that it could have been allergies from a shitload of dust that was kicked up over the last couple days by high winds, as well as hyperventilation, in addition to those thoughts that I listed on the post yesterday. If it happens again, I’ll have to see if I can identify any similar and dissimilar conditions between the two occurrences to see if I can come to a better conclusion.

So as for the reason we’re playing Flag Football tonight — we won last night! But that will be a blog post later today, likely, as I want to expand upon that subject.

Also, Wyatt Gallagher had a pretty interesting post on the state of the USA right now…

Van Halen vs The Beatles

March 27th, 2009

To those that know me, this is not old news. Laura and I have different bands we hold as our favorites. For Laura, it’s The Beatles. For me, it’s Van Halen.

There was a time when I tried to convince Laura that Van Halen was far superior to The Beatles. Well, they are. But I don’t try to convince her any more. All she does is bring out sales figures and the number of bands that say The Beatles influenced them. I’d counter with things like how many bands said Van Halen influenced them and that The Beatles came first, so you can’t judge sales figures.

Of course, The Beatles influenced Van Halen. But that doesn’t make them better. The Beatles probably had influences too, but that doesn’t make the influences better than The Beatles now does it?

But I’m not here to argue the point much. I’m here to point you to an article about two video games coming out this fall. Well, you don’t really need to read the article, I’ll summarize.

Just about everybody knows about Guitar Hero and Rock Band. The two mega-popular rhythm games based on guitar-based bands. Well, for some time now Guitar Hero has been rolling out band-specific versions of their game. Aerosmith and Metallica have already come. Rock Band hasn’t done the same.

Well, recently Rock Band announced they were developing a Beatles-specific version of their game. Naturally, Laura was super-excited and we’ll have to get it eventually (hopefully our existing equipment will work well with it).

And now there are rumors that Guitar Hero will finally release a Van Halen-based game. That’s only natural progression, right? Using Van Halen, one of the greatest guitar-based bands ever, in a game that features the guitar more than any other? Makes sense.

And the kicker? It looks like the Van Halen game is being developed and deployed at the same time as the Beatles game to combat it. How could it get any better for Laura and me? Now our bands battle can continue in video games!

But I still won’t quote sales numbers for the games to determine which is better. I could make guesses as to why which game would sell more, such as:

  • Van Halen because the band is better
  • Van Halen because it’s based on the Guitar Hero franchise, and it almost always outsells Rock Band
  • The Beatles because Rock Band has never released a band-specific game
  • Or, one of the games is far and above better than the other and is more enjoyable to play

Let the throwdown begin!
